For my last read of the year, I finished The Guermantes Way today. Tomorrow, it will be be the subject of my first post of the new year. And as for the reads with the greatest impact on me this year? 2666 by Roberto Bolano, The Believers by Zoe Heller, The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery, Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving, The Song is You by Arthur Phillips, The Unit by Ninni Holmqvist, Swann's Way by Marcel Proust, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann and The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.
Three books worth mentioning that I have been dipping in and out for a while - The Book of Dead Philosophers by Simon Critchley, It's Beginning to Hurt by James Lasdun and The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis. Love, love, love all three of these, and look forward to reading more as the mood strikes.
Happy, happy New Year everyone! May you have peace, love, and happiness in boundless amounts. And an extravagant selection of books at your side.
